Christ Church and funerals

Cross Funeral Clipart

It is always heartbreaking to lose a loved one – but in these difficult times it is so much worse not to be able to arrange the funeral you would have wanted them to have, or they would have wanted.

Church ministers are, of course, here to take your loved one’s funeral, operating under the current restrictions, and we find it difficult as well – but we offer more than a civil celebrant can.

When we are allowed to meet again, this church will offer thanksgiving or memorial services free of charge (apart from disbursements, eg musicians’ fees etc) to those whose funerals we have taken in this time of lockdown.

Then you will be able to have the music, the tributes, the poems and people around you, as you remember and celebrate the life of the one you’ve lost.

And we also have an annual memorial service, to which we automatically invite you.

We do wrap around pastoral care before and after if you need it, including a bereavement support group – we’re not here just for the funeral itself.

Easter Gardens Galore

We are usually treated to a wonderful Easter Garden built under the Altar, but as we can’t get into Church this year, we decided to create our own gardens at home instead…
So the good folk at Christ Church, Waltham Cross have been very busy creating Easter Gardens with whatever they have to hand in their homes and gardens – no popping out to the Garden Centre over the Bank Holiday Weekend!
As well as the ‘traditional’ plant based creations, we have a hand drawn garden complete with Passover moon, a wonderful ‘Lego’ garden, and a magnificent Easter Garden Cake by one of our star bakers… it’s a shame the lockdown means we can’t all have a slice…

Church at the moment

NEWS!

*UPDATE* Wearing of face coverings is mandatory in church from 8th August unless you are exempt. CofE guidance says that those who are leading services, and those who assist them (for instance by reading, preaching, or leading prayer) do not need to wear them whilst doing so (although we will, of course, wear masks for the distribution of Communion)

We are live streaming our services to our Facebook page (Christ Church LEP) for those who cannot yet come to church.

‘Bubble’ Eucharists at 10.15 on Wednesdays. Only for those who have been self-isolating through lockdown or who are vulnerable and not mixing with the general population.

The Vicar is saying morning and evening prayer in church as normal, so if you would like us to pray for you, or if you just need to speak to someone, let us know using the contact form (here)

We will continue to post services and prayer resources on our Facebook page which you can find here:

https://www.facebook.com/christchurchlep/

and our shared documents page here https://www.facebook.com/groups/430355164053438/

Please also look at our Donations page in the menu…. closed churches means our source of income has been severely reduced as we are not supported financially by the Government or the Church of England.

We now have text giving: to donate to Christ Church, text 2020CHURCH (amount) to 70085 (so, for example, to give £5, text 2020CHURCH 5 to 70085). Please use caps and leave a space between church and the number.

Welcome

Welcome to Christ Church!

We are an inclusive, liberal Church of England church, in the catholic tradition.

We recognise the ministry of both men and women as deacons, priests and bishops.

Everyone is welcome here and you don’t have to be a member of our church to come to any of our services – just turn up!
